Truancy

It is district policy for JeffCo Public Schools that parent contact be made when a student has either 10 unexcused absences in one school year or 4 unexcused absences in one month (whichever occurs first). At FHM, it is our policy that parents receive a phone call from the classroom teacher, the enrollment secretary, & the school counselor. Frequent absences only affect a student’s academic progress, but also social & emotional well being. Just as many adults experience anxiety when late to a meeting or appointment, students feel anxious when returning to a classroom after being away. Lessons are missed & have to be made up on top of regularly assigned work. Social interactions are lost & with frequent absences, relationships can suffer.

If you need help getting your child to school, please reach out to Ms. Crystal, our school counselor. She is more than willing to brainstorm & collaborate on creating plans to get children to school. [email protected]
