Safe2Tell provides young people a way to report any threatening behaviors or activities endangering themselves or someone they know, in a way that keeps them safe and anonymous.

Safe2Tell is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization based on the Colorado Prevention Initiative for School Safety with initial funding from The Colorado Trust.  The program focuses on kids and the issues they face today.  This program was based on the Columbine Commission Report's recommendation that students need a safe and anonymous way to keep lines of communication open.  They realized that tragedies could be prevented if young poeple had a way to tell someone that they knew without fearing retaliation.

Hunger Free Colorado - Hunger Free Hotline

The Hunger Free Hotline is a bilingual (English and Spanish) toll-free number that connects people to needed food.  Food Assistance Navigators ask callers high-level screening questions so that the recommendations are tailored to each caller's unique situation.  They refer clients to food pantries, congregate feeding sites, the Food Assistance Program (also known as SNAP or Food Stamps), the Summer Food Service Program, WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), and more.  The Food Assistance Navigators provide callers with detailed information about eligibility requirements and help prepare clients to apply for and access the federal nutrition assistance programs.

Since 1976, Family Tree has provided an array of inter-related service and shelter to families and youth of Metro Denver to overcome child abuse, domestic violence, and homelessnes.  Family Tree Children's Services keeps children safe from abuse and neglect and helps stabilize families.  Family Tree Domestic Violence Services increases the safety and healing of children, parents, and individuals from the effects of domestic violence by providing a continuum of support services, education, and resources for them and their community.  Family Tree Homeless Services reduces homelessness by assisting families and individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in obtaining supportive services to address immediate needs, sustain or improve self-sufficiency, and obtain safe, stable housing.

The Action Center - Pathways to Self-Sufficiency

The Action Center is a nonprofit human services agency serving residents of Jefferson County and the homeless.  The Action Center's mission is to provide an immediate response to basic human needs and to promote pathways to self-sufficiency.  Since 1968, The Action Center has been committed to expanding and refining its services to meet clients' ever-changing needs.  The Action Center's goal is to give clients a continuum of services to meet their current needs and the means to become self-sufficient.  In working toward this goal, The Action Center's services focus on three areas: Intervention, Connection, and Prevention.

Clients in need of help are encouraged to visit The Action Center in person at 8755 West 14th Avenue in Lakewood.  This location provides almost all of The Action Center's services.  Please bring photo identification and proof of residency (electric bill, cable bill, etc.) to receive help.  All clients must sign in at the front desk and wait to meet with a counselor who helps connect clients with services.  Services include a food pantry, clothing bank, bus tokens, homeless shelter, tenant/landlord counseling, financial assistance (rent, utilities, photo ID, birth certificates, prescriptions), and seasonal services (school supply distribution, Thanksgiving food distribution, and Santa Shop).

Colorado Homeless Families - From Homeless to Self-Sufficiency

Colordo Homeless Families (CHF) is a non-profit transitional housing program.  CHF serves families with children who are classified as "New Poor" (families who are homeless for the first time) or "Working Poor" (families who earn low wages and cannot keep up wtih the rising cost of living, including housing).

CHF houses families for 18 months to two years, during which time the adults must be attending school and/or working in a position that will allow their families to become self-sufficient by the end of the program.  A variety of programs have been established to aid families in reaching this goal.

Jefferson Center for Mental Health (JCMH) is the not-for-profit community mental health center serving Jefferson, Clear Creek, and Gilpin counties since 1958.  Their mission is to promote mental health and provide quality mental health services for persons with emotional problems and/or serious mental illness.  JCMH partners with the community, working together to create a place that fosters mental health and supports those with mental health challenges.

JCMH services are provided through numerous clinical locations in their three county service area, in addition to schools, nursing homes, senior centers, and other partner locations throughout the community.  Jefferson Center for Mental Health has an "ability to pay" policy, which is based on income, number of dependents, and availability of other funding sources for this purpose.

The mission of PEAK Parent Center is to provide training, information, and technical assistance to equip families of children birth through twenty-six including all disability conditions with strategies to advocate successfully for their children.  As a result of PEAK's services to families and professionals, children and adults with disabilities live rich, active lives participating in full members of their schools and communities.

PEAK Parent Center is Colorado's federally designated Parent Training and Information Center (PTI).  PEAK assists families and others through services like its telephone hotline, workshops, conferences, website, and publications.  As a PTI, PEAK offers parent-to-parent support but does not hold support group meetings.  We work one-on-one with families and also collaborate with state government and the education, rehabilitation, and medical communities to make system changes that improve outcomes for children.

Parents of gifted children need access to a variety of resources, networking and support to help guide them through their child's academic journey. The GT Department will be offering, in conjunction with JAGC (Jefferson County Association for Gifted Children) GT Parenting Seminars.  The presentations are prepared by various professionals on issues related to gifted children.   The Parent Seminars focus on supporting the children, parents and educators while offering the resources and networking that are needed.

This course is an Imago Parenting Class based on the book "Getting the Love That Heals" by Harville Hendrix.  This course will provide tools to consciously guide children throughout hte various stages of develpment, methods for deep listening and understanding, strategies for developing healthy, empowering relationships, and education about developmental stages.  Contact Susan Monahan or Debra Nielson for information about upcoming workshops.
